NOTE: If your document was issued by the State of Puerto Rico or notarized by a Puerto Rico Notary Public it can only be authenticated with an apostille from the State of Puerto Rico. Commonly, the Puerto Rico Secretary of State has the following requirements for documents submitted for an apostille:
• All Puerto Rico-issued vital records must be originals or certified copies issued within the last five years through the County Office of the Vital Records or Puerto Rico Department of Public Health and certified with a hand signature and seal.
• Vital records, including birth certificates, death certificates, or marriage certificates cannot be notarized and must be endorsed with the seal and the signature.
• All academic records (including school transcripts, diplomas, etc.) must be signed and certified by the school registrar and notarized by a notary public.
• To authenticate corporate records with Puerto Rico, apostille, you will have to obtain hand-signed certified (pen in hand) photocopies issued by the Puerto Rico Secretary of State Corporations Division.
